The calligrapher and story behind the studio.
Al Khatt Studio was founded by Zakariyya, an Arabic calligrapher whose practice is rooted in the classical tradition of the pen. His work centres on Thuluth — the majestic, architectural script long regarded as the measure of a calligrapher’s skill.
He continues to study under a master calligrapher, refining his hand in both Thuluth and Naskh through the traditional method of direct transmission from teacher to student — the same path by which these arts have been carried for centuries.
Through Al Khatt Studio, Zakariyya brings that discipline into the present: teaching, creating, and building a community where the traditional Islamic arts can be learned with sincerity and shared with a new generation.
